In my last blog, I mentioned that the South was preparing for the Snowpocalypse. That did not happen. What we got instead was mud. Just mud. That’s it.
Now, according to all the weather models, something big is supposedly coming this weekend. Whether it’s BLT, CMT, GPS, or GFS—whatever the weather liars are staring at—every one of them is screaming, “It’s the big one, Elizabeth!” This weekend is shaping up to be epic.
Southerners lose their minds over snow, but ice? Ice brings a whole nother level of crazy.
This weekend, some friends and I have a beach trip planned. Rain, snow, sleet, or ice—like the post office, we will be there. The reason for the trip is to see one of our lovely Praise Team partners sing in the state honors choir, and we are simply overjoyed that he was selected.
Our Praise Team is a close-knit group that walks alongside one another through life’s journey. This trip is also a chance to enjoy a winter blowout in one of our favorite places—soaking in the hot tub and heated pool while the weather does its worst.
The past few weeks have been busy, as I mentioned in a previous post. Mr. L is now fully moved into the assisted living facility, and let me tell you—he is already quite the ladies’ man. I love visiting with the residents there. They are starved for attention and absolutely light up when someone walks through the door.
At some point in everyone’s life, the going and doing slows down. Because of that, while we are able, it’s important that we continue to serve others and spread kindness wherever we go. But it’s just as important that we rest.
In Matthew 11:28–30, Jesus invited those who were weary and heavily burdened, promising them rest.
Psalm 23:2–3 reminds us: “In green pastures He makes me lie down; to still waters He leads me; He restores my soul.”
If you ever feel overwhelmed, just know this—you are not being selfish when you take time to rest and reset.
